Slam - Katinka Herbert

“Masks at the ready! As the UK prepares to be grappled, thrown, dazed and delighted by its first ever professional Lucha Libre – the dazzling bouts of Mexican wrestling that have hooked fans across the globe – a new book, Slam, (To Hell With Publishing ) brilliantly captures the extraordinary lives of the sports’ superstars.”

Renowned portrait photographer, Katinka Herbert has spent the last seven years documenting the luchadores, the heroes who fuse sport and showmanship into opium for the Mexican masses. The bouts – literally ‘free wrestling’ – combine the lurid escapism of Bollywood with the athleticism of premiership footballers and the traditional folklore of good against evil. Slam’s mesmerising reportage and portraits delves into the private and public lives of luchadores such as Fray Tormenta, the priest who turned to wrestling after a vision convinced him it would finance his orphanage. He now conducts weddings in his mask and was the influence for Jack Black’s Nacho Libre.

Glass People by Tom Darling

Tom Darling’s, and To Hells, debut novel with original artwork Jamie Reid is now available.

“Almost everyone was facing inwards, their interest lying in each other or in the girls next to me. I don’t believe a single one of them was watching the race. I got the impression that simply being there was enough for them, along with the chance to be able to say that they’d been there, like those odd men that own fast cars that they talk about but never drive. It seemed to me that they were all the same up there on that roof: they contained very little, were transparent even, and all they really did was reflect one another under the Mediterranean sun. It was as if they were made of glass.”

To Hell with Publishing is pleased to announce the release of their debut novel, the stunning Glass People by Tom Darling. In his compelling novel, already being described as a Less Than Zero set in Mayfair, Tom Darling holds each of his characters up to the light and delicately examines their flaws with his precise, elegant prose. Exploring the subtly corrupting influence of money and the ruthless cult of possession that it inspires, Glass People is a poised and thoughtful novel of the beautiful and the damned.

To mark the occasion the king of punk art Jamie Reid has been commissioned to design the artwork and has agreed to add his magic, and his signature, to this stunning and very limited edition.
